User Guide/🔁 Follow-ups

🔁 Follow-ups

The Follow-ups module ensures no patient falls through the cracks. Schedule a follow-up during or after a consultation, and track it until it's completed.

Accessible by: Admin, Doctor

How Follow-ups Work

  1. A follow-up is created during a consultation, in the Follow-up section before you finalise.
  2. It appears on the Dashboard in the Pending Follow-ups widget.
  3. When the patient returns or the task is done, the follow-up is marked complete.

Creating a Follow-up During a Consultation

The easiest way to create a follow-up is directly from the consultation workspace before finalising:

  1. In the consultation form, scroll to the Follow-up section.
  2. Fill in:
FieldNotes
Due DateWhen the patient should be seen or contacted
ReasonBrief description (e.g. "Review BP after 2 weeks")
Assign ToThe team member responsible (optional)
  1. The follow-up is saved automatically when you finalise the consultation.

Where Follow-ups Appear

There's no separate Follow-ups page — follow-ups surface where you're already working:

  • Dashboard — Pending Follow-ups widget: everything due today or overdue, with one-click complete. Overdue items are highlighted in amber.
  • Consultations queue: patients due for a follow-up appear alongside the day's appointments, so you can start their follow-up visit.
  • Patient Timeline: every follow-up appears in the patient's history.

Dashboard Widget

The Pending Follow-ups widget on the Dashboard shows follow-ups that are due today or overdue. You can mark a follow-up complete directly from the widget without navigating away — just click the tick icon on any row.

Overdue items are highlighted in amber so they stand out.

Marking a Follow-up Complete

From the Pending Follow-ups widget on the Dashboard, click the ✓ (tick) icon on the follow-up row. The item is marked complete with a timestamp and drops off the pending list.

When the patient comes back, starting their follow-up visit from the Consultations queue and finalising it also closes out the follow-up.

Follow-ups on the Patient Timeline

Follow-ups appear on the patient's Timeline tab, giving a full picture of the care journey alongside consultations, vitals, and invoices.

Tips

  • Set follow-ups for every patient with a chronic condition — it creates accountability for the care team.
  • Use the Assign To field so the right team member is notified.
  • Check the Dashboard widget at the start of every day to see what's due.
  • Overdue items are highlighted — address them before adding new ones.
